Blogger Pet Peeves

Okay so I am linking up with Mrs. Stanfords blog I have a few pet peeves but by far my biggest blog pet peeve is ..... I don't want to offend anyone but I hate blogs that all they are advertising is their TPT products that I can buy. Come on where are the ideas?? I want to see what you're doing in your classroom. I know it is hard to make TPT products but once in a while I would like to see some free stuff or ideas. Remember we are all teachers and I dont' know about you. But I make squat diddly daw and honestly I don't have a lot of mulah to buy those things. So there you have it?? I hope I didn't offend anyone too much :).

Giveaway Julia Cook Book

Have you heard of Julia Cook??? She is an amazing author that writes books that deal with social skills and personal hygiene habits for children. Her books help me teach these things to my students. This book is about boogers. I don't know about you but I've seen my fair share of boogers in my classroom. This book teaches the students to not pick their boogers.

This book is about personal space and how everyone has their own bubble around them.

I know you have all had issues with tattling in your classroom. This book is great for showing the difference between tattling and telling when it is necessary. I review these books a lot during the year with my kiddos.

This book I will be giving away to one lucky follower. This book is great on teaching students not to shout out. It teaches them that they need to wait patiently until it is their turn. You have to follow my blog and tell me about a time you had to deal with one of these issues .  The contest will end in one week. So check back on the 18th to see if you're  the lucky winner!

Best Work Freebie!! YippEE!

I don't know about you but I have a problem with students work by the end of the year. It seems like at the beginning they are so happy to please you and do their personal best. However I had a couple of cuties this past year that it seemed like their work got sloppier and sloppier as time went on. I finally made a rubric to catch those little cuties in the act. I placed my rubric by my finished basket and sure enough their work started to improve WOW!!! I put it on TPT for free so if you would like a copy, snag one for yourself. I will in the next couple of days be making a rubric that you can have by your finished basket that the kids will be able to staple to their own paper and rate themselves.

Personal best!!

Game Goo

Have you seen the site game goo? http://www.earobics.com/gamegoo/gooey.html My students absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this site. It has the funniest graphics and sounds. It is great or grades K-2.  It has this toothfairy guy that reviews antonyms and synonms with your students and at the end all his teeth fall out. My boys love it!! The girls in my classroom think it is disgusting. It would also be a great site to review on your smartboard if you have one. :) Make sure and turn the sound up really loud. My kids love the sound effects!!

Compound Compound

I made my first unit for Teachers Pay Teachers I can't believe how much work these units take to make. I have it on sale right now for $2.50. It is a great supplement for teaching compound words. I have some great centers and even a chant that you do with the students. My students really know what compound words are because my students always beg to do the chant. It also has a fun writing activity that goes with it and how I teach compound words. I hope that you will check it out!

Free Adverbs

I have been so out of the loop lately, I haven't posted in FOREVER!!! However I do follow teacher blogs on a daily basis. Sometimes with two kids it's hard to feel the creative juices. I feel so uncreative lately. When I didn't have kids I had all the time in the world to create and now that I have kids I feel like I have no time to create. I don't know how all you mother/teachers do it. In Second grade we have been studying adverbs. This concept is always so hard for my students. They really struggle with this concept. So I thought I better make up an assessment to see if my students understand what an Adverb is.  I hope this is a good assessment for you and your students on adverbs. Please let me know if you were able to use it. Here is the link.... ADVERBS
Best of all it's FREE!!!
